These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Lumen (“we”, “us”) governing your use of the Lumen mobile application (the “App”). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Lumen. By using the App you confirm that you meet this requirement and can form a binding contract.

2. The service

Lumen is a personal journaling app that lets you record entries, moods, media, and optional location, sync them, and generate AI reflections. Some features require a paid Lumen Plus subscription.

3. Your account

• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
• You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.
• Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

4. Subscriptions, billing & cancellation

• Lumen Plus is offered as an auto-renewable subscription (monthly or yearly), with a 5-day free trial on the yearly plan.
• Payment is charged to your Apple App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
• Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in your store account settings.
• If offered, any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
• Prices are shown in the App and may change; we will give notice as required by the stores and applicable law.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies; we generally cannot issue store refunds directly.

5. Your content

• You own the entries and content you create in Lumen.
• You grant us a limited licence to host, store, back up, and process your content solely to operate the App for you, including sending entry content to our AI provider when you request a reflection (see the Privacy Policy).
• You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to store it.

6. AI features — important disclaimer

AI reflections are generated automatically and are provided for personal insight and reflection only. They are not medical, psychological, therapeutic, legal, or other professional advice, and Lumen is not a crisis or emergency service. If you are in distress or crisis, contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the App unlawfully or to infringe others’ rights;
• attempt to breach, disrupt, reverse-engineer, or overload the App or its systems;
• upload malware or content you are not permitted to store.

8. Intellectual property

The App, its design, and its software are owned by Lumen and protected by law. These Terms do not grant you any rights in our trademarks or software except the limited right to use the App.

9. Disclaimers

The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the App. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law that cannot be excluded.

11. Termination

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or as required by law. Certain provisions survive termination (e.g. ownership, disclaimers, liability).

12. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of İstanbul, Türkiye, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.

13. Apple App Store — additional terms

If you obtained the App from the Apple App Store, the following also applies: these Terms are between you and us only, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App; Apple is not responsible for any product warranties or claims; and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Your use must also comply with the Apple Media Services Terms and the standard Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA).

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we make material changes, we will update the version above and, where required, ask you to review and accept the new version in the App before continuing.
